For Students Currently Living On Campus

Reapplication is the process where current residents apply for housing for the following academic year. In November, students can sign their housing application and form roommate groups, and in January students can begin the room selection portion of reapplication where they can select their specific rooms for the following fall semester.

Depending on your age or the amount credit hours you've accumulated, your housing and dining options may differ from other students. Get ahead of the game by making sure you meet the housing and dining requirements to avoid any issues with the room selection process.

Login to the housing portal to sign your housing contract and create any roommate groups.

  • You will want to do this before your date for room selection.
  • The housing contract must be signed by all parties before roommate groups can be formed. Also, any roommate groups (optional) will need to be fully matched (all requests sent AND accepted) before selecting a room as a group.

Students wishing to remain in their same room will go to the housing portal beginning at noon on January 26th, closing at 11:59 p.m. January 28th.

  • You cannot pull in roommates during this time.
  • If you do same room you cannot later pull in roommates (though someone can feel free to search for your room and assign themselves to it later).
  • If you wish to pull in roommates, you should participate in a later process for same complex or open sign-up.

Interested in living in a mixed gender group? Complete the housing contract in the housing portal but skip the roommate pages. Instead, fill out the Mixed Gender Contract and return it to Residential Life at reslife@mst.edu or 1102 N Rolla St. by end of January. We will match your group together on our end. If you have done this contract in previous years you will need to re-submit.

Students wishing to remain in their same complex in a different room will go to the housing portal beginning February 2nd at noon through 11:59 on February 4th to pick their new room in their same complex.

  • Residents can assign themselves during this time, or one member of a roommate pair/group can assign the whole group.
  • During same complex someone currently living in one complex can bring in and assign roommates from another complex.
  • For example, if Joe Miner lives in UC and is matched with Wade Wilson in RC, Joe Miner can assign both to an open UC space during same complex sign-up.

Sign-Ups By Credit Hour

Open sign-ups are available on the housing portal based on credits (cumulative + current):

  • 90+ credit hours: any time after noon on February 9th
  • 60+ credit hours: any time after noon on February 10th
  • 30+ credit hours: any time after noon on February 11th
  • Less than 30 credit hours: any time after noon on February 12th

How it Works

  • Residents can assign themselves during this time, or one member of a roommate pair/group can assign the whole group.
  • During open sign-up someone with more credits can pull in roommates with fewer credits.
  • For example, if Peter Parker has 91 credits and is matched with Ned Leeds who has 45 credits, Peter can assign both to an open space during open sign-up for those with 90+ credits.

When Open Sign-Up Ends

  • Open sign-up ends at the end of February.
  • After the final date, students who are not required to live on campus for the 2025-26 year will not be guaranteed housing though every effort will be made to house those requesting space.

Steps to Reapply

Log in to the housing portal. Navigate to "Applications and Forms" on the home page and click "Reapplication (Current Residents)". There you will follow instructions to proceed through the application/contract and then continue on to roommate selection (next step).

Login to housing portal

When you click, "Agree & Continue" on your housing contract the next page will be your roommate profile.

  • You can fill this out if you don't have a specific roommate in mind but want to search for people to form a group with or want people to be able to search for you by this profile information.
  • If you don't want to form a roommate group you can un-check the box "display in roommate search results" and continue through.
  • If your intention is to only search for people you already know by name, you can choose whether to complete this step or not.

When you click, "Save & continue" on the profile page it will take you to the roommate search page.

  • You may form a group of up to 8 people (including you). Keep your desired room in mind when determining group size. You will only want a group of 8 if you intend to go into a University Commons 8-person suite.
  • Follow instructions on this page to create a roommate group. You can search for roommates (known, by their profile info, or have the system suggest roommates), send requests, or accept/decline requests. When done select "save & continue"
  • Please note that you will only be able to search for other people who have also started this process. If the person you are looking for has not yet logged in to begin the process, feel free to continue through and return to this page later.
  • Or, if you do not want to form a roommate group, you can skip by going right to "save & continue"

Same-room sign up: Students planning to participate in the Same Room sign-up may not want to form roommate groups. During same-room, all residents will get the opportunity to choose their same room individually, including your current roommate. During same complex and open sign-up one person from a roommate group or pair will log in and assign the whole group.

After completing the above 2 steps, log into the housing portal on the time and date of the selection process you qualify for/want to participate in (find date specifics for each process in the timeline above)

During same room sign-up individuals can only assign themselves to the same bed space that they are currently in.

During same complex or open sign-up, if you are part of a roommate group/pair, only 1 person needs to sign in to assign the whole group. If you are not part of a group, you can still log in and sign up individually during these processes.

After selecting your room, select the dining plan you would like to have for theme 2024-25 academic year. You won't be able to select your dining plan prior to selecting a room because your eligibility for certain plans is connected to the building you will live in.

If you were assigned to a room by your roommate, you can log in and pick a meal plan as well. Once you are assigned to a room, if you log in and click “Reapplication (Current Residents)”>”Continue”> “Start Application” the system will jump you to where you last left off on the application. Because you already have a room assignment, the system will take you directly to the meal plan selection page. Select your meal plan and hit “save & continue”.

Students living in on-campus housing must meet requirements for housing, meal plans, and vaccinations.
